Anne,

The Evansville Chapter has awarded a scholarship to students for many years.  This year our chapter has implemented a Member Educational Grant Program chaired by our 2009-2010 Past President.

Attached are the Evansville Chapter's Student Scholarship Criteria & Application, Member Educational Grant Criteria, and Member Educational Grant Program Application.

The money for both the scholarship and educational grant programs are funded by the fundraisers that our chapter held during the previous chapter year.  We award at least $1000 to a high school or college student who plans on or is currently pursuing a degree in the business field.  Each year the Evansville Chapter Board of Directors votes on the number of scholarships that will be awarded to a high school senior or current college student at the February Board Meeting.  The number of scholarships awarded is dependant on our chapter funds, but at least one (1) $1000 scholarship will be awarded.  The scholarship that is awarded to the recipient is dependant on their enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited college or university which is verified by the Scholarship Committee Chair as the check is mailed directly to the college or university.

We do not award scholarships for membership dues only for educational purposes.  The amount is covered in the attached Member Educational Grant Criteria file.  There has been $1000 budgeted and set aside for the Member Educational Grant Program.  The criteria for the Member Educational Grant Program are pretty self explanatory as to the requirements for a chapter member to apply.  The Member Educational Grant Program can be used for registration fees and/or travel expenses incurred to take an IAAP certification exam or to attend any IAAP convention or annual meeting such as the Indiana Division Annual Meeting (IDAM), International Educational Forum and Annual Meeting (EFAM), IAAP Certification Seminar, or the Indiana Division Professional Education Conference (IPEC).  The member that is awarded an Educational Grant cannot exceed $250 per chapter year.  If a chapter member receives the Educational Grant and then fails to meet Criteria 2, they will have to reimburse the chapter for the expense of the activity that they attended.

The amount that we award for the Student Scholarship is at least one (1) $1000 scholarship.  The number of scholarships is voted on by the Board of Directors and is dependant on chapter funds.  We have awarded as many as three (3) or four (4) $1000 scholarships to students who planned on pursing a degree in the business field.  But, that was when the chapter had the funds to award that many scholarships to students.

I hope that the attached files help answer any questions that I have not answered already.
